07 Jan 09 To Make Money Avoid The Common Mistakes when Blogging

 I share the mistakes that will prevent me from making money.

I have been making the following mistakes when blogging.  I would like to share them with you.

Selecting all categories

I thought that by selecting all categories my chances of being found by google were higher.  I didn’t realise the importance of having content related to my category increased my chances of actually being found by search engines.

Creating categories to attract visitors

I was creating a “special category” for special articles that din’t justify the creation of a new category because I was not going to write many articles of that category.

Using irrelevant categories

I was creating categories that were irrelevant for my blog.  For example:

My blog is about entrepreneurship, internet marketing strategies and strategies to make money online.  I created a category called “beauty and health” because I was including some examples of how the beauty and health industry use internet marketing strategies.  The “beauty and health” category was completely irrelevant.

Creating categories twice

I was creating more than two categories just to be found by Search Engines under different names.  For example:  I had a category named “make money online” and another one called “earn money online”.  I have found that for this purpose it is better to use tags.

 

My recommendations:

Keep it simple

Select relevant categories

Do not repeat categories
